CREATING JOBS & ECONOMIC GROWTH
In recent years, New York City has seen an economic renaissance, but it's clear that the Bronx has been largely left behind. The Bronx's unemployment rate remains the highest of the the five boroughs, and nearly 60 percent of residents in District 14 live below the federal poverty line. Born-and-raised in the 14th District, Randy Abreu knows that people of the Bronx deserve better and, as a City Councilmember, he will work to create his progressive and inclusive economic vision a reality because #TomorrowCantWait.
IF ELECTED, RANDY ABREU WILL...
- Demand that the City do a better job of outreach and inclusion of minority and women-owned businesses;
- Institute local hiring requirements for all local city-funded projects;
- Tap into the growing digital media job opportunities by creating the Bronx’s first Grassroots Community Media Center which will offer free media training and certification courses to Bronxites;
- Move the Kingsbridge Armory project forward, and with an updated Community Benefits Agreement that benefit Bronx families, not special interests.
